About the Course

In an emergency, minutes count! When a person is severely bleeding, they can bleed to death in as little as a few minutes. That’s why bleeding control — keeping the blood inside the body — is the purpose of STOP THE BLEED® training.

This is a training course for EVERYONE and requires no previous medical training. Students learn how to control massive, life-threatening bleeding using their hands and other available resources, as well as how to properly apply commercial tourniquets.

No matter how quickly professional emergency responders arrive, bystanders will always be first on the scene. A person experiencing life-threatening bleeding can die from blood loss within minutes. Therefore, it is critically important to recognize severe bleeding and take immediate, appropriate action. Those closest to an injured person are often in the best position to provide immediate assistance while waiting for emergency medical services (EMS) to arrive.

The Bleeding Control Course is designed for individuals who have little or no medical training, but who may be called upon to provide immediate trauma care and bleeding control to a person suffering from a traumatic injury prior to the arrival of EMS or in an austere environment.

What stops bleeding? In a STOP THE BLEED® course, you’ll learn three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out:

  • How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound

  • How to pack a wound to control bleeding

  • How to correctly apply a tourniquet.

These three techniques will empower you to assist in an emergency and potentially save a life.

Why Choose Our STOP THE BLEED® Training?

STOP THE BLEED® training may be available through other organizations at little or no cost. We believe it is important for bleeding-control education to be accessible to as many people as possible. However, at Safe Medical Training Solutions, we are committed to providing our students with more than information alone. We believe in hands-on, realistic training that helps prepare people to act when it matters most.

Our $50.00 course fee reflects the training experience we are committed to providing — not simply the information we teach.

We are passionate about STOP THE BLEED® and about giving people the opportunity to practice these lifesaving skills in an environment that is as realistic as possible.

We believe there is a significant difference between reading about bleeding control, watching someone demonstrate a technique, and actually performing the skill yourself.

That is why we incorporate hyper-realistic training aids into our STOP THE BLEED® training. Our training aids are designed to look and feel like realistic traumatic injuries, allowing students to practice bleeding-control techniques in a more immersive and realistic training environment.

We take that realism even further by incorporating hyper-realistic simulated blood into our training. Our simulated blood is designed to look and feel remarkably similar to real blood and demonstrate realistic clotting characteristics, helping students experience a training environment that more closely represents what they may encounter during an actual bleeding emergency.

We Believe Realistic Training Matters.

When a real emergency occurs, it may involve blood, confusion, stress, fear, noise, and uncertainty. Understanding what to do in a classroom is important. Having physically practiced what to do can make a meaningful difference in your confidence and readiness to respond.

Our goal is to help bridge that gap.

We want our students to leave our course knowing more than just what to do. We want them to have physically practiced the skills, experienced realistic training scenarios, and developed greater confidence in their ability to respond.

As instructors, we're passionate about STOP THE BLEED® because I believe everyone should have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to potentially help save a life when professional help has not arrived yet.

You never know when you may find yourself in a situation where someone is suffering from a life-threatening injury. It could happen at home, at work, at school, on the road, at a sporting event, in a place of worship, or anywhere people gather.

Our mission is simple: to prepare ordinary people to do something extraordinary when it matters most.

The course fee helps us provide the hands-on instruction, hyper-realistic training aids, hyper-realistic simulated blood, and immersive training experience that we are committed to providing our students.

You're not simply paying for a class. You're investing in preparation, hands-on experience, confidence, and the ability to potentially make a difference during someone's most critical moments.

Want a Bleeding Control Kit to Take With You?

The STOP THE BLEED® course does not require you to purchase a kit. For students who would like to continue their preparedness beyond the classroom, we also offer additional pricing options for a bleeding-control kit that can be purchased with the course.

Having a bleeding-control kit readily available gives you access to essential bleeding-control supplies when they are needed. Whether you keep one at home, in your vehicle, at your workplace, or take one with you while traveling, being prepared can help you respond more effectively during a life-threatening bleeding emergency.
